Catherine Rose (Mann) Bruce 

January 6, 1970 - February 3, 2025 

Following a courageous battle with cancer, Catherine Mann Bruce passed peacefully at home in the care of her family on February 3, 2025. Born January 6, 1970, Catherine was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth (Dan Obrist), brother Howard Mann (Kate), and father Doug Mann (Andrea Osborne). She is predeceased by her mother Doris (Weaver).

A lover of animals and nature, Catherine received her bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston and furthered her education in Aquaculture at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. She accepted a position at the Waddell Mariculture Center in Bluffton, SC where she conducted shrimp and fish research for many years. After moving to Concord, NC, Catherine returned to school and earned her associate degree in Radiology Technology. For the past 15 years, she worked as an X-ray Tech at Atrium Health Union - a job she loved dearly. Amongst her coworkers Catherine found many lifelong friends.

Among her proudest accomplishments were those she shared with her daughter, Elizabeth. As a single mother, Catherine raised Elizabeth to become one of the first students from Cabarrus County School District to attend an Ivy League University on a full academic scholarship. She will forever be a proud Yale mom.

Catherine loved Star Trek, 80's pop music, and collecting vintage Dr Pepper memorabilia. In her free time, she enjoyed embarking on home improvement projects with her daughter, tending to her rose bushes, and playing with her beloved kitties -- Loki, Thor, and recent addition Gary. She will forever be remembered as a loyal, kind-hearted soul to all who were lucky enough to know her.

In accordance with her final wishes, Catherine's cremains will be converted into a coral reef and placed on the ocean floor off the coast of Galveston - a place dear to her heart. This memorial reef will create new marine habitats for fish and other forms of sea-life.

Catherine's memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 from 11am-1pm at Cabarrus Funeral Cremation & Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to come pay their respects at any time during the two-hour window.
