Cynthia L. "Cindy" (McCleskey) Crum
March 9, 1968 - February 19, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Cynthia "Cindy" McCleskey Crum-beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend-who left us far too soon on February 19, 2025, at the age of 56.
Cindy's life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and joy. She was a shining light in the lives of everyone who knew her, making them feel seen, valued, and cherished. Her warmth and kindness radiated, touching the hearts of all who crossed her path. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Mike Crum; his sons, Penn with his wife Rey, and Elison; his father, Colonel Bill Crum; her mother, Charlotte McCleskey; her sisters, Debbie O'Donoghue and Jenni Engman; and her sister-in-law, Kitty Kitchen.
Growing up in a family that traveled the world, Cindy's early years took her from Singapore to Scotland to Norway before they settled in Houston. This global upbringing fostered her deep appreciation for people, cultures, and the beauty of human connection. At Stratford High School, she excelled in academics, athletics, and dance. At Texas A&M University, she continued her passion for movement and music, joining the sorority - Alpha Delta Pi, an acapella group, and a two-step dance team, forging friendships that would last a lifetime.
Cindy's career in marketing was about much more than professional success-it was an opportunity to touch lives and brighten days. At Cemex, she was known for her boundless creativity, generosity, and uplifting spirit. As her colleagues shared, "Cindy's presence made every day brighter. She had a way of making everyone feel important, valued, and loved."
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Cindy's love for Jesus was evident in all she did, as she lived out her beliefs through action. She embodied the words of St. Francis of Assisi: "Share the gospel, and when necessary, use words." Whether through Bible Study Fellowship, church activities, or simply in the way she treated others, Cindy's kindness and grace were a reflection of her unwavering faith.
Cindy and Mike shared a deep love for travel, and together they explored the world, creating unforgettable memories. From Japan to Europe to Mexico, Cindy embraced each adventure with joy, wonder, and gratitude, always finding beauty in every experience.
Her passing leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of all who knew her. But her love, light, and laughter will forever live on in the lives she touched. Cindy was truly a light in this world, and her light continues to shine brightly in the memories and hearts of those she left behind. Her final Facebook post, quoting Aesop, captured her essence perfectly: "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." Let us honor Cindy by carrying her legacy of kindness into the world.
A celebration of Cindy's life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association's Women's initiative: "Go Red for Women" https://www.goredforwomen.org/en/ in her name.
