Karl Erich Wolf
November 17, 1960 - February 27, 2025
Karl Erich Wolf was born on November 17, 1960, in Waco, Texas, to Albert and Hermine Wolf. He grew up in McGregor, Texas where he attended McGregor ISD. He graduated Salutatorian of his class in 1979. That summer he met his future wife, Mary Margaret Fulp. Karl graduated from Texas A&M University in May 1983 with his B.S Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
After graduation, he married the love of his life, Mary Margaret Fulp, on July 23, 1983. After the wedding, they relocated to New Jersey where Karl worked for Bell Labs. Living on the East Coast allowed them the opportunity see the beautiful fall foliage, ride the train into New York City, and experience a summer day on the cold east coast!
In 1985, Karl was transferred back to Mesquite, Texas where he worked for AT&T, Lucent, and then TYCO. They lived in Mesquite for several years then relocated to Rockwall, Texas. Karl worked in design and development. His coworkers said he brought a unique perspective to the design and development because he was a mechanical engineer with a very good understanding of both electrical and mechanical manufacturing concepts. He was willing to try new and interesting developmental ideas. Working with Karl felt like you were collaborating with a friend.
While living in Rockwall, Karl spent evenings coaching the kids baseball teams. enjoying gardening, landscaping their new home, and serving as Treasure at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mesquite, Texas where the family attended church.
In November 2002, Karl took a job in Austin, Texas with National Instruments. The family relocated to Round Rock, Texas in December 2002. Years later, he was asked to join Motorola, and eventually 3M. In January 2022, Karl decided to leave the office behind and retire early.
During his retirement, he enjoyed home projects, gardening, traveling, working at the farm and feeding his cattle. Karl was a man of little words, but stepped up quietly to help family and friends when needing help with broken things from electrical issues, to mechanical issues. He was awesome with numbers and he helped his kids, their friends, and most recently his grandkids understand math problems they could not solve. The Grandkids loved seeing what he would make them on the 3D printer and they called him an Inventor. We all counted on him to fix anything that was broken.
Karl is survived by his wife of 41 yrs, Mary Margaret Wolf, children, Erich Wolf, Stephanie and Michael Whitson, Emery Wolf. Grandchildren: Finley Whitson, Kyler Whitson, Leora Whitson, Knox Whitson, Ellie Whitson, and Hannah Whitson.
