July 3, 1938 - March 19, 2025 

Horace F. McQueen, age 86, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in Palestine, Texas. 

He was a member of the Corps of Cadets Class of '60. He was the Voice of Texas Agriculture for over 33 years; owned, produced and hosted the Farm and Ranch News television program from 1964 - 1970 in Lubbock; from 1973 - 2000 in Tyler and Lufkin. Former president of both the Lubbock and Houston County A&M Clubs. He and his wife Carole funded three endowed scholarships for Ag Journalism majors at Texas A&M. Named 1980 Farm Broadcaster of the year by the NAFB; 1986 Man of the Year in Texas Agriculture by the Texas County Agricutural Agents Association; 2012 recipient of an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; 2023 Ralph W. Steen East Texan of the Year from the Deep East Texas Council of Governments.

Cattleman - imported the first Murray Grey semen from Australia to the USA in 1969, imported the first live Murray Grey cattle to the USA in 1972. Retired from broadcasting in 2000, and moved to a farm outside of Grapeland, Texas. Raised cattle and timber, and wrote weekly columns for several local newspapers following retirement from television.

Survived by Carole, his wife of 66 years, children Dale (Texas Tech), Dennis '82, Deidre '87 and Debra '87, and granchildren Faithe '23 and Mason (Baylor).

Funeral services for Horace F. McQueen will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wayne Stewart officiating. Interment to follow at the Latexo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas A&M University, Department of Agricultural Communications, 401 George Bush Dr. College Station, Texas 77840.
