Colin Druie Neyland

August 2, 1935 - December 10, 2024

Colin Druie Neyland, “Papaw”, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 89 years. He was born on August 2, 1935, in Seale-Round Prairie, Texas to D.D. “Bub” and Gladys Neyland.

Colin was a Marquez High School graduate and attended Texas A&M University. While in college, recovering from a broken leg, he discovered his love of music and taught himself how to play the guitar by ear. He married Norene Reagan, of Cole Branch Road, on April 29, 1958, in Huntsville, Texas. Colin was a life-long rancher, coon hunter and guitar picker. He spent his weekends picking across four counties: Falls, Robertson, Limestone and Freestone. If you couldn't find him with a guitar in his hand, he was checking cows from Cole Branch to Seale, visiting his grandchildren or with his dog, Chester, his best friend of thirteen years. He was a longtime resident of Cole Branch Road and a member of the Bald Prairie Church of Christ.

Colin spent every Sunday, up until the last month of his life, in the pews of the Bald Prairie Church. In his final breaths, to his children and grandchildren, he spoke about the importance of leaning on the Lord and a strong church foundation because that’s all that really mattered to him in the end.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Etta Norene Neyland; his parents, D.D. “Bub” and Gladys Neyland; son-in-law, Randy Mitchell and grandson, Tyler Cole Mitchell.

He is survived by: Daughter – Kelly Mitchell Loehr and husband Chuck of Boone Prairie Son – Wade Neyland and wife Jennifer of Cole Branch Brother – Ken Neyland and wife Delores of Seale Sister-in-Law - Vera Felder-Cash of Sugarland Grandchildren – Lacy Neyland Pasket (Russell), Janie Neyland Elliott (Drew), Pate Neyland (Morgan), Garrett Mitchell, Taylor and Matthew Loehr, Cody Autrey (Tana), Mandi Autrey (Kirk) and Sonny Autrey (Blake).
