John Nicholas Sion, Jr.
October 31, 1938 - February 2, 2025
John Nicholas Sion, Jr., affectionately known as "Buzzy," passed away peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas, on February 2, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1938, in Victoria, Texas, to Ellen Virginia Wright and John Nicholas Sion, Sr.
He completed his high school education at St. Joseph High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University in 1960 where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. Following his graduation, John joined the U.S. Navy and completed officer's training in Rhode Island before serving as a Lieutenant JG at Pearl Harbor on the USS Newell. He continued his commitment to the military through the reserves. After his military service, John embarked on a career at Rawson International, where he worked until his retirement in 1998, reaching the position of Vice President. John was an avid sports enthusiast and loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Lou Sion, and was preceded in death by his former wife, Marjory Ann Sion. His legacy continues with his children: John Nicholas Sion, III (Caren), Suzanne Sion Ronne (Scott), Cara Sion Winborn (John), Michael Malone (Denice), and Mona Malone, as well as his grandchildren: Olivia Malone, Phoebe Malone, Lydia Malone, John Nicholas Sion IV, and Stratton Sion.
Visitation and Rosary will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on February 13, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Reverend R. Troy Gately at 10:30 AM on February 14, 2025. Services will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas 77079.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Child Advocates, Inc., Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association, Casa Juan Diego, or the charity of your choice.
