Robert (Bob) Fulton Collins, 85, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas.
Bob was born in Savannah, Georgia to Mary and Robert Fulton Collins on July 6, 1939. Bob attended Texas A&M University where he was in Squadron One in the Corp of Cadets. In 1960, Bob walked on to the Aggie baseball team where he held the position as relief pitcher. In 1961, Bob had 61 strikeouts in one season for the fighting Aggies which was a college record for Aggie baseball for the next 25 years. He received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M. Bob was an avid supporter for many sports, as well as a golf enthusiast and fisherman. Every Tuesday, Bob could be found playing golf with many of his buddies. Saturday Aggie football games were a must and enjoyed by Bob. Another great passion of Bob’s was planning and traveling to the next destination with his wife and family.
Bob married Barbara Patterson on September 9, 1961 in San Antonio at Trinity Baptist Church. Bob and Barbara were married for 55 years until Barbara’s passing in 2017. In Bob’s early career, he was a Stockbroker for EF Hutton; he later went on to own a family business, B&M Mattress, and in later years, he owned Collins Properties and was a Real Estate Agent for Bradfield Properties. Bob was a faithful member at Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a Life Deacon. He and Barbara helped to establish a couples Sunday School class referred to as “That Class.” Bob was also a member of the downtown Rotary Club where he was well known for his perfect attendance.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, and son Kenneth. He is survived by his children, Leigh Ann Timber and Lori Collins; his grandsons, Zachary Timber and Anastasia and Cameron Timber; and his great grandchildren Henleigh, Adalyn and Aurelia. Although Bob was an only child, he was blessed with Barbara’s family including her sisters Sandra Jenkins, Karen Dean, and Marsha Patterson Wade (deceased), and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church, 319 East Mulberry, San Antonio.
