John Andrew Deithloff
September 27, 1935 - March 29, 2025
On Saturday morning, March 29, 2025, our beloved husband and father, John Andrew Deithloff, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at HEB hospital in Hurst, Texas. John was born on September 27, 1935 in Schroeder, Texas, the son of Rev. Carl Deithloff and Evelyn Anderson Deithloff.
Because his father was a Lutheran minister, John attended several schools in Texas during his elementary years and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas in 1954. After graduation, John became a proud Texas Aggie in the Fall of 1954 serving in the Corps of Cadets and the Texas Aggie Band. During his time at A&M John made many life-long friends that have remained in contact throughout their lives, including attending a reunion every summer at someone’s home in Texas.
John was part of the A&M Class of 1958, and graduated in 1959 with a B.S. in Architectural Construction. After graduating from A&M, John served two years in Germany as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. John began his professional career in 1962 in the commercial construction industry and was a general contractor for many years. In 1967 John met and married Carmen Smith at First Baptist Church of Farmersville. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and had two sons, Andrew and Tim. John and Carmen lived in the HEB area their entire married life – fifty years in the City of Euless. John was very active in the City including serving on the Planning and Zoning committee for over 20 years, and was an active member of the local Rotary Club and an amateur radio club. After the boys were grown, John and Carmen enjoyed traveling and attending Aggie functions (especially football games).
John is survived by his wife Carmen Deithloff, his two sons Andrew Deithloff (wife Danielle) of Arlington, Texas, and Tim Deithloff (wife Leta) of Austin, Texas, and two grandchildren, Tyler Deithloff and Avery Deithloff. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diana Ferguson.
