Marcus Lee Puente
(August 5, 1982 - December 1, 2010)
Marcus Lee Puente, 28, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in Yorktown, TX. He was born August 5, 1982 in Cuero, Texas to Mike and Esther Villarreal Puente.
He was a 2000 honor graduate of Yorktown High School and attended UTSA in San Antonio majoring in economics. He continued his education in graduate school at Texas A&M. After graduation, he was employed by the City of Bryan and then for the City of Austin as
a budget analyst. In November, 2009, Marcus became the city administrator for the City of Yorktown. He was elected to the Yorktown School Board at the age of 18 as the youngest school board member in the nation. Marcus' story is featured in Texas History textbooks.
To family and many friends, he was considered a local celebrity and was always smiling.
Preceded in death by grandfather Albert Puente. Survived by parents; sister Brandie Puente of Yorktown; brother-in-law Nicholas Kulik of Yorktown; brother Lukas Puente of San Antonio; grandparents Henry and Rosa Villarreal, Mary Puente all of Yorktown; nephews
Carter Puente and Brock Kulik.
Visitation will be 9 AM-4PM Friday, December 3, 2010 at Finch Funeral Chapel, 212 E Main Street and 6 PM-7 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church with a rosary at 7 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Rippamonti, Brandon Villa, Chad Hardt, Jonathan Hurta, Rene Hernandez and Robert Mendez. Honorary pallbearers are Keary Koehler, Krystina Giles, Cyrstal Villa, Anna Styra, Jessica Rippamonti and Tiffany Miler.
Memorials may be given to the Marcus Puente Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank of Beeville in Yorktown.
