Wilbert E. Tschirhart ’45 died January 30th, 2010 at his home in Atlanta Georgia. He was formally from San Antonio, Texas. After being drafted in 1943, during his junior year at Texas A&M, he served with the
HQCO 3rd BN274TH Infantry REG 70th Trail Blazers Division stationed in France and Germany during WWII. His military awards include two Bronze Stars for Bravery. After the war he returned to Texas A&M earning three Bachelor of Science Degrees. He worked with
the Civil Engineers at HQ TAC at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. In 1973 he transferred to FORSCOM at Fort McPherson, Georgia. He was the Land Management Agronomist at both headquarters. He presided over all Bases and Forts.
He was a member of the Soil Crop and Weed Science Societies of America, American Society of Agronomy and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, of which he was a Class A Member.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jo Barbara Tschirhart, daughter Barbara Ann Tschirhart, son Dr. Brian A. Tschirhart ’73, daughter Bonnie Marie Tschirhart, son Rochie E. Tschirhart ’77, son Mark A. Tschirhart ’79, son Dr. Timothy J. Tschirhart, and son
Cary W. Tschirhart ’85, 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and, 4 siblings, Harold Tschirhart ’47, Norma Vorpahl, Leonard Tschirhart ’55, and Janice Uptmore.
