John Howard Farris Jr.
February 4, 1931 - August 31, 2011
John Howard “Doc” Farris Jr., resident of Poth, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the age of 80 years, 6 months, 27 days. John was born on February 4, 1931 in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Burbank High School and attended Texas A&I University. Doc was a proud graduate of Texas A&M Veterinarian Medical School, Class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Doc enjoyed animals, reading and visiting with friends casually.
Doc is survived by his longtime friend, Shirley Cheatwood; his sons, Rip, Jim, Corky, Mark and Brad; his grandchildren, Justin, Jamie, Douglas, and Travis; and his great grandson, John Reid or “Cinco” as Doc loved to call him.
Graveside funeral services, with military honors, were held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, September 5, 2011, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, followed by interment. A celebration of life memorial for Doc followed at his grandson and wife Valerie’s home.
