Harry M. Smith, a retired geologist with Mobil Oil Co., died Sunday at Jo Ellen Smith Convalescent Center in Algiers. He was 86. Mr. Smith was born in McKinney, Texas, and lived in Algiers for the past 35 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A B-17 pilot, he was shot down in Germany in 1942 and was held prisoner until the end of the war. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin and Houston Smith, and three grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 1300 Vallette St. Burial will take place later.
