WHARTON - George W. Hodge Sr. 96 of Wharton died Sunday Feb. 19 2006. He was born May 27 1909 in Beasley to the late Oliver Jefferson and Martha Estelle Walden Hodge. He was a retired administrative assistant for Texas Gulf Sulphur and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors: daughters Mary Ruth Koonce of Taft; Marjory Hurta of West Columbia and Etta Mayfield of Wharton; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by: wife Alma Ruth McGilvray Hodge; eight sisters four brothers and one grandchild. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. tonight with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church the Rev. Paul Thomasson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Wharton Funeral Home Wharton 979-532-3410.
