Robert Lavern Cheaney

Robert Lavern Cheaney, 94 of Fort Myers, FL formerly of Bokeelia, FL passed away on December 27, 2013. He was born on November 27, 1919 in Snyder, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Gladys Nailon Cheaney. Mr. Cheaney was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S.
Army Air Corps. Robert received a [bachelor's] Degree from Oklahoma State University and a [master's] Degree from Texas A & M University in Agronomy. His life long career took him all over the world to rice growing countries, with his main passion to increase
the food production in under developed countries. He lived and worked in Cuba, Panama, Dominican Republic, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil and Haiti. He moved to the area in 1986. Mr. Cheaney was a member of Pine Island United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Cheaney; daughters, Donna (Carroll) Varner, Cheryl (John) Mickey; three grandchildren, Claire Brucker, Carroll Varner, Sarah Koelsch; five great grandchildren, Carson Brucker, Henry
Brucker, Alice Brucker, Anna Koelsch, Marjorie Kuelsch; brother, Joe Lilly.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral. Entombment with U.S. Air Force Military Honors will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
