The Dean Ash Memorial Scholarship was established in 1992 to honor Dean Ash, an outstanding scholar-athlete at Alice High School. Dean greatly admired his cousin, Crayton Hunter, who taught him the sport of team roping. Each year from 1992-2005, Crayton sponsored a team roping to raise money for the Dean Ash scholarship. Through his efforts, the scholarship has awarded over $150,000 to twenty-two deserving scholar-athletes at Alice High School. The address to the scholarship and church are:
Dean Ash Scholarship, C/O Bette and Joe Ash, 4973 N. Hwy. 281, Alice, Texas 78332. Episcopal Church of the Advent, P.O. Box 1937, Alice, Texas 78333.
