Victor Beran
Victor Julius Beran, 90, died Aug. 28 2014, in Fort Smith. He was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Moulton, Texas. Victor’s higher education at Texas A&M was interrupted when he served in the Army during World War II. He returned to Texas A&M University to complete a
bachelor of science degree in industrial education. While at Texas A&M, he and his wife, Doris, were married in Shiner, Texas. He spent his career working in the insurance business in loss control as a safety engineer in Houston. He and Doris loved to dance
and were members of the Polka Club of America. Fishing was one of his favorite hobbies that he shared with his sons. He and Doris were always supportive of their sons’ activities, whether it was Boy Scouts or motorcycle racing. Victor spent his last five years
living in Fort Smith, where he enjoyed attending numerous University of Arkansas at Fort Smith Lion athletic events along with musical and theatrical performances.
Victor was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Doris Raab Beran. He is survived by two sons, Paul B. Beran and his wife Janice of Fort Smith and Callen Beran and his wife Shelley of Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Drake and his
wife Anh of Shanghai, China, Timothy Drake of Cleveland, David Pavel and his wife Lizzie of Kingwood, Texas and Austin Beran of Park City, Utah; four great-grandchildren, Julie and Joshua Drake of Shanghai, China, and Caleb and Levi Pavel of Kingwood, Texas;
and one sister, Helen Beran Meehan of Dallas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Krummetbauer Beran; his father, Charles E. Beran; two brothers, Edward Beran and Daniel Beran; and older sister, Stella Schilhab.
Memorial Mass service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. Interment was at Catholic Cemetery in Shiner.
