Thomas Victor "Tom" Piwetz, 67 of Meyersville died at home on July 2, 2015. He was born September 21, 1947 in Refugio, TX to Jerry and Charles Piwetz. Tom served his country in the US Army Air Defense Artillery Branch with rank of Captain being stationed in
Germany. He was a graduate of Texas A & M University Class of 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Sciences. Following his military service to his country, he worked for the National Park Service; was an entrepreneur, starting two businesses;
Tom's Taxidermy and South Texas Fur Dressers, of Victoria, where he had retired. Tom was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, traveling the world. Other interests included photography, wildlife management, reading extensively about Texas history and especially
spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Tom is loved and remembered by his wife of thirty-four years, Wilma Timme Piwetz; children, Erin Elise Piwetz Pothoff and husband, Chris, Nancy Lynn Piwetz Nilson and husband, Andy, Sarah Katherine Piwetz, Robert Keith Piwetz; sister, Marsha Piwetz Ward; grandchildren,
Trinity Jordan Thomas, Jayden Marie Pothoff, Ethan Andrew Pothoff and Jack Preston Piwetz.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 5-9 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be 10 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nagel Road, Victoria, TX with military flag
folding honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers will be Bill Granberry, Chris Pothoff, Scott Smart, Tres Franklin, Will Granberry and Andy Nilson. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow classmates of Texas A & M University Outfit B-2 Class of 1969, Wednesday lunch group and Tom's cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O Box 3, Meyersville, TX 77974.
