Denny L. Smith

Denny L. Smith,
age 86, of North Canton, died Tuesday evening in St.
Luke Lutheran Home following an extended illness.
Born in Crockett, Texas, he served in the U.S Air
force and had lived in the Stark County area most of
his adult life. He was a graduate of Texas A & M
receiving a degree in engineering, Kent State
University receiving a degree in education, retired
from Goodyear Aerospace as well as the Canton City
Health Department and was a member of St. Peter
Catholic Church. For a brief time during his retirement
he taught at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He is
survived by his wife: Ann Marie (Khourey) Smith of
the home; son: Matthew (Catherine) Smith of
Louisville, KY; daughter: Kathleen Smith of Canton;
brother: Leonard (Inez) Smith of Rapid City, SD;
grandchildren: Michael, Jacob and Hannah. Funeral
services will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Wackerly
Funeral Home with Fr. Edward L. Beneleit officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in North Lawn
Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning from 10
to 11 am in the funeral home. The family would like to
thank Dr. Lawrence Penevose and his staff for their
kind care and compassion. Donations may be made
in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
