Aggies Star In 'Finding Noah'

A group of Aggies participated in the filming of "Finding Noah," a documentary chronicling a dangerous archaeological expedition in search of Noah's Ark.

Bruce Hall '85 and Dr. John Bryant '85 were part of the team who climbed Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey. Known as the "painful mountain," it is the tallest mountain in the region and lies in the very center of a centuries old, geo-politically unstable hot spot, with constant threats of deadly rock slides, hidden crevasses, and glacial ice falls.

Also in the film:  Rebecca Hall ’84, Daniel Hall ’11 and Deborah Hall ’14.

"It’s a film about inspiration, encouraging and inspiring other people to do things they wouldn’t normally do," Bruce Hall said. "It's a very motivational film. The slogan is: What’s Your Mountain? This is our mountain, but the whole idea is to encourage people in life to do something they wouldn’t normally do, to give it a try, don’t be afraid of failure. We all fail, but sometimes we succeed.”

"Finding Noah" will be shown Oct. 8 during a one-time event in select U.S. theaters through a partnership with Fathom Events. The event will include the full-length feature, as well as a panel discussion with archeologists, theologians, filmmakers and expedition team members.

Bruce Hall said pre-sale tickets are at Fathomevents.com and theaters are posted on the Fathom website. "We heard some churches are buying out theater screens, so if your theater is sold out please let us know and will will make an attempt to get another screen in your area (No guarantees)," he said.

Bruce Hall will speak about the film and his experience on Mt. Ararat at the Baptist Student Ministry in College Station on Sept. 23.

Hall and the film's director, Brent Baum, will be in the MSC underground at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, to meet with interested film students or other members of the public.
