Spencer J. Buchanan, Jr.
Spencer J. Buchanan, Jr. graduated from Texas A & M University with a degree in Animal Science, class of 1953. After serving in active duty in the US Army he returned
to Texas A & M, and majored in Entomology in 1957. He went on to seek an MBA from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia in 1959.
Spencer worked with Union Carbide Chemical Co. and then with Diamond Shamrock Chemicals before moving to Guatemala in 1974, planting cotton and raising hogs for the meat industry.
Later he and his wife formed El Tesoro, S.A., a cattle operation. Spencer was an active member of the Rotary Club, American Legion, St. James Episcopal church and The
American Society. He is survived by his wife Irene, his daughters Shelley Adams of Houston, Texas and Ellen Campollo of Guatemala City, Guatemala and their Grandchildren.

[03/20/17] The Saint James Family is mourning the death of Spencer J. Buchanan, Jr. The Lord called Spencer home at 6:37 a.m. on Saturday, March 18. Spencer recently retired as Senior Warden of the Mission Committee, and was honored at a lunch on February 26th.
A couple of years ago, Bishop Guerra awarded the medal for Episcopal Service to Spencer, in honor of his many years of service to the Lord at Saint James. We join with his wife Irene, his daughters Ellen and Shelley, his grandchildren and other relatives in
expressing our sorrow for their loss. Spencer had been ill for a couple of years, so his suffering has ended, and he rests in the Lord
