For many years, 55 Aggies were known to have died due to service in the war; they had been honored with individual oak trees and plaques on Texas A&M's Simpson Drill Field.
In 2022, Texas A&M announced the discovery of an additional 15 names through research efforts by the Brazos County World War I Centennial Committee.
Trees and markers were added to Simpson Drill Field in 2022 for these additional names. In 2023, 16 U.S. flags were added to those already atop Kyle Field, bringing the total number of those flags to 71: one for each fallen Aggie plus an additional flag to represent any still unknown.
If you know of a former student who died while serving in World War I and is not listed, please contact The Association of Former Students at AggieNetwork@AggieNetwork.com.
