Gregory Alan Garrett
October 24, 1962 - February 5, 2022

Gregory Alan Garrett (59) passed away in Charleston, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 5, 2022, with his wife Kristi by his side. Born in Houston, Texas, to Robert and Evelyn Garrett, Greg’s early years were lived in Houston, Tulsa, and San Antonio. The family eventually settled in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Greg graduated from Franklin High School in 1981. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a master’s degree in experimental psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. In 2019, Greg earned a PhD in ergonomics from Texas A&M University.

He began working for Boeing in 2016 as an ergonomist at the Everett, Washington, plant. He transferred to the Boeing St. Louis facility and finally settled in Charleston, South Carolina. Greg was recently promoted to a new position—his dream job—working as a human factors engineer and was looking forward to relocating to Huntsville, Alabama.

Greg loved his family and spending time with his wife Kristi and their three daughters, Kelseigh Garrett of Chattanooga, Kaylen Garrett of Nashville, and Jami Eaton of The Woodlands, Texas. Greg was so proud of his daughter’s accomplishments and all that they have achieved in their young lives. Greg and Kristi enjoyed living with their dog, Daisy; their beloved dogs Suki and Ellie passed away in 2019 and 2021. Time with his family was always the highlight of his life. He loved their game nights, watching movies, talking about music, or just being together. He also loved history, traveling, road trips, and was an avid reader.

Greg is survived by his wife Kristi '17, daughters Kelseigh and Kaylen, step-daughter Jami, parents Robert '61 and Evelyn, and his brother Stephen (Tina) and their children, Kendall and Elizabeth (Garrett) Kirby, Josh Garrett, and Emily Garrett.

A special mention to close friends Doug and Jennifer Walpus, Pat and Liz Frensley, and Vernon Ruttenbur. Greg always had a wonderful time with his friends and was excited to be moving closer to them this summer.

Services will be held at Lindsley Avenue Church of Christ, 3 Lindsley Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37210, on Saturday, February 19, at 1:00 P.M. CST. Note: Flowers can only be delivered to the church the day of the service.
