Paul Lindsey Fisher
March 23, 1957 ~ December 24, 2021 (age 64)
Dr. Paul L. Fisher earned his B.S. degree in physics from Texas A&M University in 1979 and remained a proud Aggie all his life.
He went on to earn his M.S. from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in 1982 and Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in 1999, also in physics with research in astrophysics.
Between his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees he worked as a Telescope Operator at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) Very Large Array (VLA).
After finishing his Ph.D., he taught physics at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Hampden-Sydney College, and West Texas A&M University before rejoining NRAO as a Data Analyst at Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia.
He then moved to Charlottesville, VA as technical staff at the North American ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array) Science Center. Paul was fascinated by the universe, telescopes, and computers and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of astronomy, the VLA, Green Bank telescopes, and ALMA with his students, friends, other staff at NRAO and other astronomers.
He will be deeply missed.
