Jerry Scoggin
August 15, 1939 - August 22, 2021

Jerry Coleman Scoggin celebrated his 82nd birthday on August 15th before peacefully going to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning August 22, 2021 with his wife by his side. He was born in Grapeland, Texas in 1939 to Robert Lee and Alma (Tyer) Scoggin. He graduated from Grapeland High School in 1957 and received a degree in Accounting as a member of the Class of ’61 at Texas A&M University in College Station.

After college, he began his career in Austin working for the General Land Office where he met his love, his sweetheart and his best friend, Bette Marie Wolff, and they were married on May 19, 1962. They moved to Palestine for several years running a hotel together before returning to Austin to work for the state of Texas and begin their family. Jerry has been very involved in his church and communities for many years serving selflessly as a deacon, member of Capitol City A&M club in the ‘70s, Optimist Club and band boosters.

He loved his Lord, wife, family and never met a stranger sharing his smile and love with everyone. Known as “Pa-Paw”, spending time with his grandchildren was precious to him.

Pre-deceased by his parents, brother Robert L. (Bob) Scoggin; sisters, Evelyn Lane, Ruby Lee Clark, Faye Scoggin and Dimple Scoggin.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, son Jerry Wayne Scoggin and Sheri Davies of New Braunfels, son Terry and Angela Scoggin of Mount Pleasant, daughter Sheri Scoggin of San Antonio, sister Carolyn Ledbetter of North Carolina, brother-in-law Charlie and Sandy Wolff of Buda, sister-in-law Patricia and Corby Weiss of Bastrop, brother-in-law Michael and Denise Wolff of Giddings, six grandchildren (Jerramy, Joshua, Matthew, Madeline, Luke and Ericha) and great grandson Laken. Also, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial Service: Friday September 3rd 11:00 AM at Cedar Valley Baptist Church, 1905 FM 969, Elgin, TX 78621.
