Dora Ann Maler
October 16, 1942 - March 13, 2010
Ann Maler, 67, of Cameron died Saturday, March 13, 2010 in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Gary Bagley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Maler, retired school teacher and counselor, was born October 16, 1942 in Clifton to Louie and Sarah Ellen (Prater) Sonntag. She received a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Education from Texas A&M University.
She married Robert Maler on July 12, 1976. She started her career teaching at Ben Milam Elementary School in Cameron, she then moved to Richardson where she taught for several years before moving back to Cameron where she taught and served as Chapter One Parent Involvement Coordinator and then working as counselor for Cameron Elementary School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the U.M.W. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Cameron Women's Golf Association.
Survivors include: Her husband Robert Maler of Cameron, Son Richard Dwayne Gaskey of Azle, Daughter Melissa Shelton of Cameron, Brothers Darrell Sonntag of Meridian, Doug Sonntag of Rosebud, 5 grandchildren Colby Gaskey, Jarrod Gaskey, Dillon Shelton, Colton Shelton, Sutton Shelton, 2 great grandchildren Kyler Hassey and Cadlie Gaskey. Memorials may be made to the Ann Maler Scholarship fund.
