Michael F. Kunetka
March 4, 1945 - August 1, 2022
Michael F. Kunetka, 77 years of age, passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home in St. George, Utah after a two year battle against pancreatic cancer.
Michael was born in Houston, Texas to Frank and Viola Kunetka and at a young age moved to Sweet Home, Texas. Michael graduated from Texas A&M University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics. He then moved to Riverside, California and spent the majority of his career working Civil Service for the Navy at the Naval Weapons Center in Norco, California. He obtained his MBA from California State Polytechnic University - Pomona in 1981.
Michael truly enjoyed his retirement, spending hours and hours researching investments and playing the stock market. He was a fan of both Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger and did his best to emulate their investment strategies. Sometimes those strategies paid off and sometimes they did not, but Michael always saw it as a positive learning experience and something he took great pride in doing. While Michael was a long-term resident of Riverside, California, he truly felt at home upon moving to St. George, Utah. He absolutely loved being a resident of SunRiver a 55 plus community in St. George, often commenting that he wished he had moved there sooner.
Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years, Heather Kunetka of St. George; two sons, Erik Kunetka, daughter-in-law Alison, and granddaughter Hannah living in California, and David Kunetka living in Utah.
