September 8, 1932 - October 30, 2022
Milton E. McFeron ’54, passed away on October 30, 2022, peacefully in Dallas, Texas at the T. Boone Pickens Center-Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Milton was born on September 8, 1932 in the Red Bluff Community near Lolita, Jackson County, Texas and grew up on the L-Ranch and farm near La Ward, Jackson County, Texas.
Milton graduated from Lolita High School in May 1949 and graduated from the A&M College of Texas with a degree in Industrial Technology, Class of 1954, and a 2nd Lieutenant's commission into the United States Army. He served in the United States Army as an Infantry Officer at Fort Benning, Georgia and with the 9th U. S. Army Division in post war Germany as Battalion Motor Officer and Headquarters Company Supply Officer.
Milton worked as a management trainee for Texas Gulf Sulphur Company in Newgulf, Texas where he met his wife, Mildred Jones. They were married on March 23, 1956. Milton joined International Harvester Company in February 1957 and retired as District Credit Manager on October 31, 1987, followed by employment at Southwest International Trucks as their Finance Manager retiring on December 31, 2002.
Milton’s hobbies in retirement included home building projects, yard work, Aggie football, sports spectator, and some fishing as well as sightseeing and traveling with his beautiful wife and friends.
Milton was preceded in death by his father Louie Milton McFeron, brother Air Force Captain Ernest McFeron ‘56, his mother Ruth Gilmore McFeron, Milton’s wife Mildred, his brother Air Force Colonel Louie O. McFeron ‘51 and by his daughter Mary Katherine McFeron.
Survivors include his brother Ray McFeron of Hobbs, New Mexico, sister Sue Slaughter of Wharton, Texas, son, John David McFeron of Allen, Texas and Milton’s grandchildren Deirdre McGrath, Michael McGrath and Stephen Sheppard and wife Vanessa, and great-grandchildren Walter and Zoey Sheppard as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service for Milton E. McFeron will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12:30pm at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N Hampton Rd, Desoto, Texas 75115. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
