Col. Cliff Blackerby
March 3, 1945 - February 6, 2023.
Col. Cliff Blackerby, 77, of Oak Ridge North, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023. He was born in Greenville, Mississippi on March 3, 1945.
Col. Blackerby, or Cliff, as he was known by his loved ones, graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BBA, University of St. Thomas with a Masters in Business Administration, and received a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University. He married the love of his life, Sandra Blackerby, on April 14, 1967. He retired as a Colonel from the United States Army from the 75th United States Army Maneuver Area Command (MAC). He also retired from Region IV as a Director of Distance Learning. He was a helicopter pilot who flew Hueys, Chinooks and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a Master Gardener, amateur photographer, loved golf and his beloved pets.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cliff B. Blackerby; his mother, Estella Blackerby; and his son, David Scott Blackerby.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Blackerby; and two beautiful daughters, Kimberly Blackerby and Krishena Blackerby Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home located at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. There will be an opportunity during this time to sign the guestbook, to pay final respects, and to visit with the family. At approximately 2:30 p.m., there will be a final viewing and military honors will be rendered at 2:45 p.m. All will take place in the Grand Hall and R.L. Wood Event Room, and there will be no procession to the cemetery following the service.
