Frank Alfred Holbrook

October 1, 1934 - September 1, 2022

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, Frank Alfred Holbrook, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend peacefully passed away at the age of 87.

Frank, born October 1, 1934, to J.D. and Jewel (Fulfer) Holbrook was raised in Sweetwater, Texas. Frank received his BA in economics from Texas A&M, Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1956. He went on to receive his law degree in 1958 from Baylor University. Shortly after passing the bar exam, Frank moved to Killeen, TX where he practiced defense law for over 50 years. On October 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Yvonne Annette Glover aka “Morris” and together they raised their blended family in Harker Heights, TX.

After building a successful law career in the Killeen area he met his lifelong business partners, Jim Trainum and Mildred Cloud, and together built their first hotel, Hallmark Hotel, followed by several Marriott projects over the course of many years. Frank was an avid sports fan cheering on Texas A&M, The Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. He loved spending time with his family at Lake Granbury and often said that “Heaven is the only place better than Lake Granbury.” He didn’t like, he loved, the life he built and all the simple pleasures in it.

Frank is preceded in death by his father, J.D., mother, Jewel, sister Patsy and husband E.J. Gardner, and son-in-law Terry Cox. He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, and four children, Van Holbrook, wife Jennifer, Lanny Morris, wife Paula, Cindy Cox, Shelley Lethco, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held September 8th at Crawford-Bower Funeral Home from 6 pm-8 pm. Services will be at Lifeway Fellowship in Killeen, TX, on September 9th at 11 am with a graveside ceremony to follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport.

In place of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Wounded Warriors Project as an expression of sympathy.
