Mr. Taylor passed away on April 18, 2023, in Athens, Texas.
Dylan Wade Taylor was born on January 26, 1979, in Tyler, Texas, the son of Jerry Glenn Taylor and Martha Faye (Warren) Taylor. He graduated salutatorian from Athens High School in 1997 and earned his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M in 2000.
Dylan then attended medical school in Lubbock while working at a chemical lab but ultimately decided to move back to Athens, where he worked at the Coon Creek Club doing grounds maintenance. In 2011, he went to work at the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, where he has educated students ever since. Dylan loved his students like they were his own kids. His time at ACPA impacted the lives of too many children to count. He taught the children to be intentional, to work hard, to push past their limits, and he taught these children what it meant to be authentic. Dylan was a force on campus. While he spent his time teaching mostly the older students, he interacted with the littles every day on his way to refill his cup of coffee. He told the kids that if they worked hard, they would get there. His students were his world, and he made sure they knew it through the time and patience he took to make sure they understood what he was trying to teach them. When he wasn't tutoring, he enjoyed watching college football, participating in fantasy football, reading, and being with his friends. Dylan was brilliant, kind, loved life and was an all-around good guy who will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Christine Taylor; and his maternal grandparents, Dee and Faye Warren.
Survivors include his brothers, Cameron Taylor and wife Marveena of Athens and Brandon Taylor and wife Cara of Whitehouse; his nieces and nephew, MaCayla Weaver and husband Garrett of Burleson, Madison Taylor of Tyler and Reagan Taylor of Whitehouse; his great nephew, Reese Weaver of Burleson; his uncle and aunt, Larry Taylor of Ponchatoula, Louisiana and Pam Taylor of Athens; his first cousins, Jill Taylor and Russell Taylor; as well as numerous other cousins.
