Samuel Hartsfield Raines Jackson

March 9, 2003 - May 18, 2023

Samuel Hartsfield Raines Jackson passed away on May 18, 2023, from a tragic accident while studying abroad in Barcelona. Sam was born on March 9, 2003, to Fred Hartsfield and Angela Raines Jackson. He was the love of their life and they celebrate the privilege of being his Mom and Dad.

Sam was a remarkable human being. He was kind, generous, and caring. He had a soft spirit and was a gentle leader. He had a pure heart and was a friend to all.

Sam was a member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, where he served as Junior Verger, Thurifer, and Acolyte for six years.

Sam attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, where he made lifelong friends and appreciated being in a Christian atmosphere, where a cross hung in every room. His teachers truly cared about him as a person and strived to help him achieve his best. Sam personified Jesuit's motto -Men for Others.

Sam was a current engineering honors student at Texas A&M University in College Station. At the end of the summer, he would have had 90 hours, enough to order his Aggie ring. He was a petroleum engineering major, with two minors, Math and Spanish. He was planning to apply to the Master of Finance program this summer.

Sam loved Camp Ozark. He attended for nine years. Last summer, he was a counselor at Camp Ozark TX (OTX) and had planned his entire summer around being able to go back again. He loved the people and the simple, Christian environment.

Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Frances Jackson, and his uncle, Robert Kirk Owens.

Sam is survived by his parents, his maternal grandparents, Jack and Rebecca Raines, his aunt, Jennifer Raines Owens, his cousins, Payton and Ashton Owens, his paternal aunt and uncle, Jennifer and Bill Turner and their children, Melissa and Chris, his Godfathers, Gary Hayden Patterson and Steve Rodgers, his best friends, Luke Szczepanski and Kate Morsbach, and his dog, Angel.

A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00pm on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Jesuit College Preparatory School, 12345 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas, 75244, in the Terry Center.
