Kourtney MacKenzie Garcia, 27, of Euless, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2023.
Kourtney was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on October 9, 1995, to parents, Jose Manuel Garcia and Vanessa Marie Seymore. After moving to the DFW area in 1996, Kourtney attended Grapevine-Colleyville ISD schools. Coached by her parents in soccer, softball, and cheerleading, Kourtney enjoyed being part of a team. She also competed on basketball, track, and competitive jump rope teams. Recognized for her academic and extracurricular success in middle school, Kourtney was invited to speak to over one thousand members of the GCISD faculty and staff at the back-to-school convocation in 2010. She graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in May 2014 where she participated in lacrosse, choir, and theater.
In December 2017, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University where she worked two jobs, played on the women’s rugby team, and managed to graduate Magna Cum Laude in just three and a half years.
Kourtney will be remembered for her big personality and contagious laugh. She could light up a room and was always willing to share ideas and help others. She was a staunch feminist and LGBTQ advocate, persistent in defense of her beliefs. Kourtney loved deeply and was a supportive big sister and aunt who also knew how to have fun.
Kourtney is survived by her parents, Manny (Cindy) Garcia and Vanessa (Jeff) Seymore, grandparents Paul and Dalia Woodward, Genoveva Garcia, and JoAnn Dickerson; siblings Kennedy Wilson, Blake and Reed Seymore, and Evelyn and Andre Garcia; her former wife, Tyler Greenwood; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Andres Garcia and Bradley Dickerson.
May her light continue to shine through all those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 8525 Mid Cities Boulevard, North Richland Hills, TX, 76182.
