Nathan Arthur Vermedahl, M.D. 
July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2023 

Nathan Arthur Vermedahl, M.D., 47 of Dalhart, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Central Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Stueve officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.

Nathan was born on July 2, 1976, in Amarillo, Texas, to Leo Vermedahl and the late Kathleen (Kathy) Vermedahl. Nathan graduated from Dalhart High School in 1994. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1998. Nathan was a member of the Corp of Cadets as a B-Company Street Fighter and had the honor of playing the bass drum in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band.

Post-secondary-graduation, Nathan attended the University of Texas San Antonio School of Medicine, where he was an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians Student Association. Nathan’s graduation from medical school in 2003 was followed by an internship in Greely, CO, and a rural family medicine residency in Wray, CO. Nathan began his medical practice in 2006. He served the Dalhart community and his patients until his death.

Nathan married his high school sweetheart, Lysl Pack, on June 12, 1999, in Dalhart, Texas. Nathan and Lysl were blessed with three children. Jack will attend Texas A&M University this fall to study finance at Mays Business School. Kathleen (Kate) will be a junior at Dalhart High School, where she is a varsity cheerleader and plays softball. Gracie will be a freshman at Dalhart High School, where she will be a junior varsity cheerleader and dance with Lone Star Ballet in Amarillo.

Nathan is survived by Lysl Vermedahl, his wife of 24 years; a son, Jack, and daughters Kathleen and Gracie; his father, Dr. Leo Vermedahl and wife, Linda, all of Dalhart; sister, Nicole Storseth and husband Brett of Wichita Falls; sister, Amy Bowers and husband Adam, and niece, Addison, of Dalhart; nephew, Braxton Bowers and wife Caroline of Lubbock; brother, Chris Metcalf and nephew Conner of Amarillo; mother-in-law, Kim Pack of Dalhart; sister-in- law, Ti?any Moore and husband Colby, and nephews, Cade and Collin, and niece, Tinlee, all of Aledo.

Nathan was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen (Kathy) Vermedahl; sisters: Baby Girl Vermedahl and twins, Kellie and Kristen Vermedahl; grandparents, Art and Norma Vermedahl and Leroy and Ruth Sullivan; and father-in-law, Kenneth Pack.
