Arthur C. Kyle, Lt.Col. USAF (Ret) 

August 6, 1943 - August 17, 2023 

Arthur C. Kyle, Jr., age 80, died in Gurley, Alabama on August 17, 2023. Art was born in San Angelo, Texas on August 6, 1943 to his parents Arthur C. and Sophie Louise Kyle. Art was raised in Ozona, Texas.

Art graduated from Texas A & M University in 1965 and was commissioned in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he also received degrees from Penn State University and MIT. Art retired as a Lt. Colonel after a 27 year career focused on meteorology.

Art had civilian careers at Science and Technology Corp and Northrop Grumman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George W. Kyle ‘69 and his uncle, James F. Haug ‘34.

Survivors include his wife Patricia, and his children Matthew Kyle ‘89 and Jennifer Kyle Cowlishaw ‘91 as well as daughter-in-law, Lorraine Schiltz Kyle ‘89 and son-in-law, James E. Cowlishaw, IV ‘91. He is also survived by his sister Kay Kyle Alexander and brother-in-law, David L. Alexander ‘71.

Art is survived by four grandchildren Brittany and Katie Kyle and Jodie ‘25 and Jake Cowlishaw.

LTC Kyle was buried in the Alabama National Cemetery on August 25, 2023.
