Jo Ann Streit 

May 29, 1965 - October 29, 2022 

Jo Ann Streit, of Mill Valley, California passed away after an 18-month battle with cancer. She was 57.

Jo was born in Minnesota and moved frequently with her family as a child, before settling in Plano, TX, where she spent her high school years. She received her BA from Texas A & M University and her Masters from North Texas University.

Jo's initial career was in journalism, but due to a serendipitous event, she was thrust into producing and directing her first feature film, Flirting with Power, which followed Ross Perot's run for the Presidency. Having full access to the candidate, she created a documentary that San Francisco magazine called "an even-handed look at the politics of the day." The film was screened at several film festivals across the US. During this time Jo started her own company, Streit Productions. She was working for Westcott Communications in Texas in 1996 when an opportunity to produce a groundbreaking 21-site statewide video conference event, Resources for Youth, for the California Wellness Foundation, brought her to California. She loved the San Francisco Bay Area and decided to make this her home.

She leaves behind her beloved domestic partner, Phil Bombace of Mill Valley; her mother Gloria Streit and sister Marie Green of Plano, TX; her deeply loved nieces, Marguerite Bartek and McKenzie Green, and nephew Caleb Green; and her cousin Patricia Severynse.

All who knew her, including her closest friends, members of her women's group, and work associates, described her as the most beautiful soul. We will miss her loving presence in our lives but will carry her energy with us always.
