Adam Armin Friedli
March 25, 1986 - January 7, 2024
Adam Armin Friedli, age 37, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 after a two year battle with a rare form of stomach cancer. Adam was able to peacefully die at his home in Grandville, Michigan surrounded by the love of his dear wife, 12-year-old daughter, and parents. The family is deeply grateful for the medical care provided by both the oncology staff at the University of Michigan Medical Center (West Campus) and the Lacks Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Faith Hospice did an amazing job of making Adam as comfortable as possible during the last few days of his life. They are a blessing.
Adam is survived by his wife, Anne (Seifferlein) Friedli; daughter, Addilynn (Addie) Friedli-Harrison; parents John and Debbie Friedli; plus many Friedli and Seifferlein relatives and dear friends.
Adam was born in Davenport, Iowa, March 25, 1986 while his father was stationed in the U.S. Army at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois (The Quad Cities on the Mississippi River). The family moved to Germany for a four year assignment in Muenster and Heidelberg when Adam was two years old. Adam attended both a British preschool and an American kindergarten. A final military move was made to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1992 when Adam was six years old. Michigan became Adam’s home from that point forward.
Adam participated in the local Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs (summer camp and High Adventure trips to New Mexico, Canada, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan) and eventually earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was a clarinetist in the Forest Hills Central High School Marching Band and Wind Ensemble, having the opportunity to compete in the State Solo Ensemble his senior year.
Adam graduated from Forest Hills Central High School with honors in 2004 and was accepted to the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Adam was also a proud member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, Company B-1. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. After graduation, Adam returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan finding employment at I3 Business Solutions, then Springthrough Technology before landing his dream job as an IT systems administrator at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
Adam married Anne in August 2014 and they began their nine year life together with their two dogs. Adam and Anne decided that they wanted to adopt children, so they opened their hearts and home to an amazing little girl named Addie, who was almost nine years old at the time. They had the official adoption ceremony in December 2022 at the Grand Rapids courthouse. It was a joyous celebration for everyone. Adam, Anne, and Addie were able to make a special trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida in May 2023 before Adam’s advanced cancer made it difficult to travel. Adam was a very loving husband and father who brought so much joy to everyone with whom he came into contact. We have many wonderful memories of Adam to hold on to.
A celebration of Adam’s life will be held April 13, 2024 at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 2500 Division Ave S, Grand Rapids, MI 49507. Specific details will be sent later. Cremation has already taken place.
