David Baxter Ward

January 23, 1956 - May 4, 2024

David Baxter Ward, a devoted follower of Christ, loving husband, caring father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2024. He was 68 years old.

Dave fought valiantly for multiple years against cancer. He has gone home to be with his Lord. Dave was born on January 23, 1956, in La Marque, Texas, to Curtis & Mildred Ward. He was a graduate of Dickinson High School (1974) and Texas A&M University (1978).

Dave was the past president of Nassau Engineering Company and a faithful member of Clear Creek Community Church. Dave loved people, being outside, and playing sports. He was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Denise, had been married almost 46 years, and he thoroughly enjoyed every minute he had with his children and grandchildren.

He was a natural athlete, who spent many hours at the little league field, riding his bike around town, or looking for pick-up games of any sort. During high school, he played baseball and became an avid golfer, and he looked for any opportunity to water ski or go snow skiing.

The highlight of his college years were the lasting friendships he developed while living in Moore Hall and the fun he had playing every intramural sport imaginable. Later in life, he particularly enjoyed playing golf and snow skiing with family and friends. The most important thing in Dave’s life was his relationship with Jesus. He had authentic & dynamic faith that shaped how he lived and naturally spilled over into his daily life. He loved spending time with and guiding others who wanted to grow in their faith.

Dave is preceded in death by his son, William (Bill) David Ward; his father, Curtis B. Ward; his mother, Mildred Wilder Ward, and his brother, Kenneth C. Ward.

David is survived by his wife, Denise Ward, his daughter, Meredith Ward Harris and her husband, Brad, and granddaughters, Charlotte, and Camille; his daughter-in-law, Amy Ward-Chupp and her husband, Ben, and grandchildren Ollie, Marley and Abby; his sister, Diane Ward Solomon; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10am on Tuesday June 18th, at Clear Creek Community Church, 999 Egret Bay Blvd, League City, Texas.
