All ’80s, all ’90s, engineers among fall Reunions

Susan "Sue" Owen '94 July 15, 2024 9:58 AM updated: July 15, 2024 10:50 AM

This fall brings both traditional and innovative Reunions hosted by The Association of Former Students.

For the first time, two tailgates will welcome entire decades of Texas A&M Classes — the All ’80s Tailgate on Oct. 25 and the All ’90s Tailgate on Aug. 31. All Aggies from, respectively, the Classes of 1980-1989 and 1990-1999 are invited to these events.

Another first will be the Engineers in Aggieland Reunion for former students from the fields of aerospace, industrial and systems and mechanical engineering, hosted Sept. 6-7 by the Texas A&M College of Engineering and The Association.

Two returning events are relatively new: the Young Alumni Kickback, welcoming all 12 Classes from 2013 to 2024 for a tailgate with maroon mimosas, tacos and more Oct. 5; and the Constituent Network Tailgate, which will bring together Association groups with shared interests and heritage Aug. 21.

In addition, the Class of ’79 will conduct its 45 Year Reunion, and the Classes of ’84 and ’89 will have combined 40 and 35 Year Reunion events. (The Classes of ’94 and ’99 wrapped their 30 and 25 Year Reunions into the All ’90s Tailgate.)

More details, going by the calendar:

Aug. 31 (Notre Dame football game)

  • The All ’90s Tailgate will be a catered event with a fajita buffet and cash bar in the heart of Aggie Park. All ’90s Ags, family and friends are invited. Early arrivers may catch ESPN College Gameday broadcasting live from Aggie Park in the morning (8-11 a.m.), and the tailgate will follow in the afternoon, 3:30-6:30 p.m. Details are at tx.ag/All90sTailgate (registration will open soon; early bird rate available until Aug. 9).The event is hosted by the Classes of ’94 and ’99 as well as The Association.
  • The Constituent Network Tailgate is coming off a successful first year which saw participation from the Aggie Educator Network, Texas A&M Hispanic Network, Aggie Women Network, Sea Aggie Former Student Network, Texas A&M Student Government Association and Black Former Student Network. Watch tx.ag/Reunions for 2024 details as they become available, and learn more about these and other groups at AggieNetwork.com/CN.

Sept. 6-7 (McNeese football game)

  • The inaugural Engineers in Aggieland Reunion will span two days, with a reception Friday that will include a photo opportunity with Texas A&M mascot Reveille X, followed by a tailgate on Saturday. Watch for upcoming registration and details at tx.ag/EngineersInAggieland.

Sept. 12-14 (away game at Florida)

  • For their 45 Year Reunion, the Class of ’79 will meet up in Aggieland for events including socials at Messina Hof Winery and Hush and Whisper distillery, a golf outing, a dinner with live music, a watch party for the Aggie football game, and a tour of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum tour — including the 4141 locomotive and Marine 1 helicopter. See the full schedule and register online by Aug. 30 at tx.ag/79Reunion45.

Oct. 5 (Missouri football game)

Oct. 25-26 (LSU football game)

  • The Classes of ’84 and ’89 invite all the 1980s Classes to the All ’80s Tailgate, which will be a catered tailgate with cash bar on gameday. For their own 40 and 35 Year Reunions, the '84 and '89 Classmates will have a joint Class Dinner and tours including the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, which recently acquired the 4141 locomotive and Marine 1 helicopter. They will also attend Midnight Yell Practice together!
