January 6, 1965 - September 21, 2024
Charles "Chuck" Phillip Stough, a loving father, son, brother, colleague, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2024, at the age of 59.
Born on January 6, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, to Charles Leroy Stough and Phyllis Roland Stough, Chuck spent his childhood in Deer Park, Texas. He was an adventuresome child which resulted in innovated ideas. Chuck moved with his family to Iola, TX where he attended high school. He excelled in academics, sports and other events. Although he was not large, he was incredible strong having worked the summers with his brother Howard, hauling hay and building fence for his family’s and neighboring ranches. This made him a surprising force to be reckoned with on the football field and garnered numerous awards and local paper highlights.
Charles we very close to his siblings. He and his older sister, Trina, set the pace as leaders and would often prank the younger two. Charles and Holly were closer in age so shared many of the same friends and activities and later in life similar career paths. They became each other’s ‘trusted advisors’ both personally and professionally . Chuck adored Howard, his younger brother of 4 years, and took him with him wherever he went through childhood and throughout high school. He always made it clear to the older guys that Howard was to be respected and never picked on. After high school graduation the brothers shared an apartment and as each became married, had homes next to each other for a brief period of time.
Charles was the spitting imagine of his father, in looks, humor, intelligence and love for the Lord. We rejoice that they are together now. He was also his mother’s son, calling her frequently, ensuring she had what she needed. He and his mother, Phyllis, shared a special bond and enjoyed discussing world events, new Bible studies, or discussing just about everything as they enjoyed each other’s company so much.
Upon graduation from Iola High School in 1984, Chuck pursued higher education at Texas A&M University in College Station. There where he met his ex-wife, Patricia. Their 28-year marriage blessed them with twin children, Phillip, and Jordan. Chuck earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration-accounting from Texas A&M and embarked on a successful career with Halliburton in 1995. His dedication and hard work led him to various progressive roles within the company, including international assignments in Venezuela and Singapore, where he shared enriching experiences with his family. Chuck was admired by colleagues for his honesty, integrity, and unwavering work ethic.
His very successful career was but a shadow to his accomplishments as a father. He loved nothing more than his son, Phillip and daughter, Jordan. He had a unique and genuine relationship with each. Some of their most favorites times as a family included camping, hiking, and exploring the world. He instilled in his children the value of integrity, hard work, respect for those around them and love for the Lord.
A man of deep faith, Chuck dedicated his life to serving Jesus Christ and sharing his faith with loved ones. He was a constant source of support and strength for his children, serving as the unwavering rock of his family. Chuck cherished spending time with his loved ones, found solace in nature, and enjoyed reading scripture and classic rock music. His witty humor and infectious smile, though rare, will forever be cherished.
Chuck will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
