Stewart Barnett Carpenter

Stewart Barnett Carpenter, 81 of Wichita Falls, Texas went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2022.
Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Faith Village Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Stewart was born on August 19, 1940 to Ivan “Jack” and Beryl (Wiggins) Carpenter in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962 and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Stewart earned a Master’s degree in computer science on May 25, 1968 and a P.H.D in computer science on December 9, 1972.
The Carpenters moved to Wichita Falls in August 1978. Stewart was the first computer science professor at Midwestern State University where he taught for 34 years before retiring in 2012. Stewart was a loving Christian man and a member of Faith Village Church of Christ.
Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Carpenter and Beryl Carpenter Vincent; two sisters, Carolyn Carpenter Pirtle and Beryl Ruth Carpenter Barr; and a son, David Edward Hott.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Orman Carpenter; two sons, Stephen Thomas Hott and wife, Melody and Scott Stewart Carpenter and wife, Heather; daughter, Deborah Anne Carpenter Nelson and husband, Chad; and ten precious grandchildren.
