Roll Call Tribute

Stephen C. "Steve" Lundgren 

April 26, 1955 - December 26, 2024 

Steve Lundgren was an incredible husband, father, Pop Pop, and friend. Steve’s doctors medically cleared him for routine hernia surgery the day after Christmas. Surgery went well, but afterwards, he went into sudden cardiac arrest while Diane was with him in the recovery room. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, they were not able to revive him.

We are so grateful God gave Diane 29 amazing years with Steve. He loved Jesus deeply and showed that love to our family every day. He had a unique way of making everyone feel valued and loved, and that started with Diane. He treated her like a princess and cultivated a love in their marriage that reflected Jesus’ love for humanity. They were so in love with one another. And he cherished his kids and grandchildren. Steve loved his role as Pop Pop as much he loved being a dad to his kids or a husband to Diane.

While our hearts are broken, we know we will see him again in heaven, where we will be together forever with the Jesus that he loved. We also know that Steve’s love, character, integrity, and compassion affected everyone reading this. He was fond of his rural Texas roots, he loved being a Fightin’ Texas Aggie, he was proud to serve his country in the Navy, he enjoyed the work he did as a general contractor, he treasured his Young Life career, and he cherished his time as an MK husband. More than any accomplishments Steve had in his career, though, he loved the people he came across. From strangers to neighbors to church members to coworkers and everyone in between, he was kind to everyone he interacted with.
