John Robert Crain

July 15, 1942 - May 25, 2023

The family of John Robert Crain is sad to announce his passing on May 25th, 2023. John was born in Bryan-College Station, Texas to Barbara Robinson Crain and Albert William Crain. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, William Leon Crain (Billy).

John is survived by daughters Cassandra L. Thompson and Lauren A. Crain, son-in-law Bruce Thompson, and grandsons, Jonathan R. and Raymond G. Thompson.

John lived for baseball. He was a star pitcher for Bellaire High School and took his talent to Texas A&M University where he earned a bachelor's degree in science and later, his master's in education from SFASU. His devotion to the sport eventually landed him a job coaching baseball at the high school level for over 35 years. He was also a biology teacher for 42 years, most of which was spent in the classrooms and halls of Westbury High School in Houston, Texas.

After retirement, John found pleasure in the outdoors, especially saltwater fishing. Always the teacher and coach, he enjoyed helping young and old with advice on fishing. He also spent time in the company of family and friends.

John, Johnny, Dad, Papa, Coach will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life for John R. Crain is to be held at Pillar Church Conroe on Saturday July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
