Samuel R. Solano

June 8, 1956 - November 16, 2024

Samuel R. Solano, born June 8, 1956, passed away on November 16, 2024, surrounded by his children and family in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. He courageously fought his battle with Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) until the end.

Sam was a loving, proud father, adored his grandchildren, and loved his family. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of his morning coffee, meaningful conversations, and spending time with his children. Sam had an infectious laugh and a wry sense of humor. His education and career taught him to be analytical and attention-to-detail, but his life experiences instilled wisdom in him, which he bestowed upon his children when needed — often saying, "we are always in the making".

Sam truly took pride in his alma mater, Texas A&M University. He epitomized the Aggie Core Values. Sam earned his Economics degree in 1980 and went on to a rewarding career with Federal Express. He retired from FedEx after 35-plus years of service.

His career with FedEx took him to Caracas, Venezuela in 2000, where he met his late wife, Christina. They got married in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they lived briefly before setting roots in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised 3 children there.

Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Christina; parents, Mela and Samuel; and oldest brother, Jesse (Olivia). Sam is survived by his 7 children, Samuel A., James, Victoria (Daniel), Bianca, Gabriel Gonsalves (Kellie), Andre, Camila; 5 grandchildren, Madelyn, Devin, Samuel A. II, Mason, Emilio; and 2 brothers, Robert (Maria) and Edward (Brenda).

A visitation for Samuel will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A prayer service will occur Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 6:30 PM. A chapel service will occur Friday, December 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM. An interment will occur Friday, December 6, 2024 at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78226.
