Harold Stanley Fischer

March 28, 1946 - December 2, 2024

Harold Stanley Fischer was born March 28, 1946 in Waco Texas and he passed away at his home in Lorena on December 2, 2024. He was an architect by trade and designed many buildings in the area including the old Hillcrest Hospital. In his later years, he taught at Texas State Technical School for more than 20 years and taught night classes at Baylor University for 5 years. He and his wife, Carolyn, are founding members of Peace Lutheran Church in Hewitt, where he taught the 6th grade Confirmation class for many years. He was often found at the door greeting everyone who arrived, shaking hands, hugging friends, and holding the door open. When asked why, he would say He felt like God called him to welcome all to worship. He was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. He loved carpentry and built furniture for his family. He was always there to give advice or a helping hand when something needed to be fixed.

Harold married the girl next door, Carolyn, on September 6, 1969. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1971 and rarely missed an Aggie football game. He loved to garden and often could be found watering, trimming, and keeping his yard looking nice. He was an all around prankster and passed this onto his children and grandchildren. His laugh was infectious and was happiest when his family was gathered under one roof. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and an amazing grandfather.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; daughter, Kristi Gonzales and her husband, Jimmy and their children, Mark and Angelina; his son, Lance Fischer and his wife, Heidi, and their children, Ryan and Lilah; daughter -in- law, Jennifer Fischer and her children, Miranda and Hannah; and his sister, Beverly Woodward and her husband, Buddy. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Aileen and Gilbert Fischer; his son, Vince; and his brother, Kenneth Fischer.
