Lai Man "Raymond" Chan, DDS

May 8, 1968 - November 30, 2024

Raymond Lai Man Chan of Humble, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, holding the hands of his beloved wife and sons. He left us far too soon at the age of 56.

Born on May 8, 1968, in Hong Kong, Raymond moved to Texas as a young man and graduated from Cleburne High School. He went on to attend the Texas State Institute of Technology (now TSTC) in Waco, earning a degree in drafting. Raymond began his career as an aerospace drafter at Raytheon, where he met the love of his life, To-Nhi Tran, through mutual friends.

Motivated to make a greater impact, Raymond pursued a new path in dentistry. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Texas A&M University in 1995 and was subsequently accepted into dental school. In 1999, he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston.

For over 24 years, Raymond served his community as a skilled and compassionate dentist. Known for his steady hand and kind demeanor, he built lasting trust with his patients while fostering a positive and joyful environment among his office staff and colleagues.

Above all, Raymond was a family man who cherished his role as a husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife, To-Nhi Tran, and his two sons, Magnus Chan and Aston Chan, who were his pride and joy. He also leaves behind his mother, Kam Moon Tong; his father, Woon Sun Chan; his brother, Ricky (Lai Kit) Chan; and his sister, Lia Chan.

Raymond's love and kindness also extended beyond people. Over the years, he not only took in strays, but also adopted cats and dogs from the SPCA, Houston Humane Society, BARC, and the Harris County Animal Shelter.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, devoted office staff, and cherished loved ones who have provided unwavering support during this difficult time. Your kindness, love, and generosity have been a profound source of comfort and strength.
