Patrick "Pat" Barton '64 January 30, 2025 2:00 PM updated: January 30, 2025 2:11 PM

Patrick Joseph "Pat" Barton

October 14, 1942 - October 18, 2024

After a long battle with cancer, Patrick Joseph Barton “Grandpa Pat” passed away on October 18, 2024, at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born October 14, 1942, in Mexia, Texas to Cecelia (Susen) Barton Piscacek and Edmund Barton Sr. Pat grew up in the small town of West, Texas and was the second oldest of 7 boys. He attended West High School and Texas A&M University after accepting a football scholarship. After graduating from Texas A&M in 1964, he worked for Temple-Inland for the next 36 years.

Pat had an incredible zest for life. He enjoyed traveling to the Texas coast with his family, traveling around the US and to foreign countries, A&M sports and lunches with his children, grandchildren, friends and family.

Survivors include his daughter, Kim Barton Carrillo, son, Todd Barton and wife Melissa Barton, grandchildren Alex Carrillo Lemish and husband Justin Lemish, Zach Carrillo, Mason Bryn Barton, Collin Carrillo and Maya Barton and great grandchildren Trent Lemish and Jordan Lemish. He is also survived by brothers, Edmund Barton and wife Frances of Waco, Fred Barton and wife Jan of Houston, Charles Piscacek and wife Kristy of Hewitt, John Piscacek and wife Carolyn of Pasadena, and Tom Piscacek and wife Debbie of Waco; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

While we lost our most beloved Dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others. No matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, no matter what he’d be by your side if you needed him. Amazing that every Grandchild of his considered him to be their best friend. There was so much more to him than just Dad, Grandpa…. Though to us that was his greatest roll. He was also a friend, coworker, and Colleague, a cousin, uncle, brother, stand in paternal figure, the list goes on and on.

He will be in our Hearts Forever, Forever Remembered, Forever Missed!
