Johnnie J. "John" Veselka 

January 29, 1934 - January 23, 2025 

Johnnie, age 90, passed away January 23, 2025. Johnnie was born in Fayetteville, Texas. Losing his mother and father prior to his sixth birthday, he was raised by his brother, Elo Veselka and sister-in-law Mary Ann in Baytown, Texas.

Johnnie married Cynthia Mackrell in 1959. They were married until her passing in 2003. He later married Dusty Novak in 2008.

Johnnie graduated from Texas A&M University in 1961 and worked for the US Treasury Department until his retirement in 1995. In 1970 Johnnie purchased property in Old Waverly, Texas and the “Roun Tuit Ranch” or “The Farm” became the weekend getaway where many sausage cook-off contests were held. Johnnie enjoyed dancing, gaming and an occasional Crown Royal.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Cora Veselka, wife, Cynthia Mackrell Veselka, siblings infant brother and sister Gilbert and Minnie Mae, Elo and Mary Ann Veselka, Leroy and Margie Veselka, Earline and Quentin Hoffman, Celestine and Rudy Darilek. Matilda & Bill Moore and Cora and Pat Taylor, brothers-in-law Warren and Anderson, Robert Landry and Henry Novak.

Survivors include wife Dusty Veselka, Daughter Geina Parish and husband Jerry, Melissa Veselka, Stepdaughter Jamie Hollingshead and husband Tom. Grandsons Jacob Veselka, Blake and Dierek Parish and Colton Hollingshead. Sibling Delphine Darling and also many, many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Earthman-Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St. Bellaire, TX, from 5 PM to 8 PM, with rosary at 6 PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fayetteville, Texas, 78940.
