Ronald Bruce "Ron" Smith 

January 16, 1948 - February 1, 2025 

Celebration of Life Services for Ronald “Ron” Bruce Smith, 77, who passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on February 1, 2025, will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon February 5, 2025 at 2 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Kurt Bacon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. 

Ronald was born in San Antonio, TX, on January 16, 1948, to the late Cecil Kelso and Carolynn Eppright Smith. In 1966, he graduated from Stark High School in Orange, TX and then furthered his education at Texas A&M University. While attending Texas A&M he was a member of the C2 and K1 Company Corp of Cadets and graduated in 1970, receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served in Germany for three years with the Corp of Army Engineers and then served in the Army Reserves. Following his military service, he returned to Texas A&M to receive his Master’s degree in Business Management. He later made North Augusta, SC his home and worked for Savannah River Plant until retirement. Ronald was a member of the American Legion Post 71 in North Augusta, SC.

Ronald was considered by all who knew him as a true blessing, a gentle giant with a kind soul and he loved his family dearly. He had a zest for life and never met a stranger, especially when traveling all over the world. Ronald will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his cousin, Richard Eppright of Fredericksburg, TX. Surviving members of his family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 14 years, Sheila Kaufman Smith; daughters, Kathryn Messick (Finis) of Grovetown, GA and Allison Smith of Ladson, SC; grandchildren, Abigail Christensen of Raleigh, NC, Samuel Christensen of Wilson Mills, NC, Finis and Carter Messick of Grovetown, GA and Karson and Jaxxon Banks of Ladson, SC.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care of Gentiva Hospice, and Ida, a special employee for her amazing care of Ronald.

Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta, SC is in charge of arrangements.
