January 8, 1938 - August 31, 2024
Stuart Mason Williams, known affectionally as Mason, passed away on August 31, 2024, at the age of 86 in San Antonio, TX. Born on January 8, 1938, in Crystal City, TX, Mason lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and service.
Mason's early education took place in Crystal City before he advanced to Texas A&M University, laying a strong foundation for his future. His commitment to service was evident when he joined the U.S. Navy from 1962-1965, serving with distinction during a pivotal time in history.
Professionally, Mason was a respected Mechanical Engineer at Kelly AFB and later contributed significantly to Security Services. His work ethic and innovative mind were hallmarks of his storied career.
Mason was a devout member of the Crossroads Baptist Church where he actively participated in the choir. His faith was a vital component of his life, providing strength and solace.
An avid outdoorsman, Mason enjoyed fishing, gardening, and carpentry. His commitment to community service was demonstrated through his involvement with Habitat for Humanity, Big Brother's Society, and Life Restored Missions. He also shared his passion for culture as a docent at the Texas Institute of Cultures.
Mason is survived by his loving wife, Janice Williams; children, Stuart Williams, Melanie Palumbo and her spouse Chris; grandchildren, Danielle, Vanessa, Adam, Aaron, Ashleigh, Robert, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Brady and Reagan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar and Hazel Williams, and brother, Lamar Williams.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 13, at 11:00 am at Crossroads Baptist Church, 8300 Tezel Rd, San Antonio, TX. The Neptune Society is assisting the family during this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice or Crossroads Baptist Church in memory of Mason Williams. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and community service will continue to inspire all who knew him.
