George Lee McDonald

July 10, 1946 - January 3, 2025

George Lee McDonald, 78, of Bryan, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2025. His memorial service will be held Saturday January 18, 2025 at 2:00pm at Rock Prairie Baptist Church in College Station, Texas. Pastor Tuffy Loftin will officiate and burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Robertson County.

George Lee was born July 10, 1946 in Bryan, TX to George Fort McDonald and Mary Edna (McWhorter) McDonald. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1964. He went on to attend Sam Houston State University on a music scholarship. During this time, he put his education on hold to serve in the U.S. Army. Upon return from his service, he attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics in December of 1973. In June of 1973 he married Nancy (Burr) McDonald, the one true love of his life. They spent 51 years together, through the ups and downs and everything in between having lots of fun and adventures along the way.

George Lee had several exciting work opportunities that could have taken him down many different paths in life but his one true passion was being a cowboy. God used this passion to touch many lives through George along the way. He was the music director at Rock Prairie Baptist Church in College Station Texas for 43 years. Even when he wasn’t in front of a congregation God’s love and light shone through him in his daily work.

George Lee is preceded in death by his father George Fort McDonald, mother Mary Edna (McWhorter) McDonald, infant sister Mary Leona McDonald, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles “Buddy” Burr and Elise Jean, Grandparents George & Leila McDonald and Edward & Edna McWhorter. He is survived by his wife Nancy McDonald, daughter Elizabeth McDonald, sister Leila Davis and husband James and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly.

The family requests that donations be made to Shiloh Cemetery in honor of George Lee. Donations can be sent to: Shiloh Cemetery Association of Robertson County, P.O. Box 142, Kurten, TX 77862.
